Tuesday

Lang Arts - Please check out the SAYZ me link on the right if you want the computer to help your child with their reading. It is a WIndows basked link that will allow your child to listen to the text you put in the screen. It highlights and will read at a comfortable speed.

I will be posting some sites with a good selection of different levels of reading for the students.

Spelling Unit 8 is due tomorrow as is the letter to Katie for her Super-kid presentation.

Language Arts - students had a spelling test today. They are to complete a five stanza poem for class on Monday March 30th. They may decorate them and I have given them the following as an example for content and rhyming pattern. Have a great weekend!

Don't Bring Camels to School

Review for math test. The test will be very similar to the work pages 201 and 202. They should do these to practice for their test.

Finish p. 194-5 #1-11
Work on times tables.
Test on Unit 6 on Monday. We'll then continue multiplying by 2 and 3 digit numbers

Wednesday

Language Arts - Students have three things to get ready for class tomorrow.
  1. Super kid letter to be completed - must be decorated and be one page long.
  2. Spelling Unit 7 Word Power 1, 2, 3a
  3. Simile - Create similes on the short worksheet.

Practice times tables all.

Math March 23

Students need to practice their times tables and do them quickly and easily up to 9 x 9.
They can use strategies like doubling, or working from a known answer or the finger math for the nines.
Practice these 10 minutes a day. I will test them before Easter Break. They need to be a able to answer out load and in written form.

Complete the loyalty web on page 19 of your textbook.

Also do viewing the illustrations at the bottom of page 19.

Lang Arts- Study for your spelling test on Friday. You have had the list of words for quite some time so don't forget to review. also make sure you have five good sentences practiced for the test.

Language Arts - Spelling Tests are going home today. Please sign and return them to school.

Spelling list for March 9-20 is in the hands of students so they can study during the time off.

Students are working on the story "The Moccasin Goalie so they may/should be asking you about the kinds of recreation you had when you were their age.

A large "Frindle Word Web" is to be completed for class on Tuesday March 17th.

Science March 6

We are starting new unit called Light and Shadow.
On Tues. students are to bring in pictures of objects that give off light. Just the picture not the object itself. We're going to make a group collage of the pictures. Use newspapers, magazines, print from the internet. Whatever works. Students must explain why they brougt the picture. Be able to answer that the object gives off light in some way.

Write out 2, 4,8 ,5 and 10 times tables on the front.
Write out 3 and 6 times tables on the back.

Name First Nations groups that have lived in Alberta in the past, and understand that they continue to live here today by:
• reviewing the map on P. 99 and identifying which Nations belonged to which region of Alberta.
How Did Land Shape Ways of Life? (p. 100-109)

Explain how natural resources help communities be successful by:
• reviewing the diagram on P. 103 to list what parts of the buffalo were used and why.
Share how stories show that First Nations people feel a strong connection to the land by:
• Reviewing, listing and describing all of the natural resources used by the First Nations for transportation, food, shelter and tools. Use your blue “Connections to the Land” sheet and re-read pages 101 – 109.
