October 30- L.A.
Hi everyone, the 'Campread Well' program will start officially next week for November. What I am asking is that each student has written proof of what books he/she has read, which should include the time period, number of pages, and a brief description of the story. Our Monster Video Conferencing Project is on the go and we will start building the monster next week. HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
Math Oct. 30
We worked on estimation in class. We finished p. 69 in class.
Students are doing mad minutes on basic math facts. The sheets are going home after they are marked. Some students need some more practice. Knowing their basic facts are essential when we go to add 3 and 4 digit numbers.

October 22- Video Conferencing
Myself and the grade fours will be participating in two seperate video conferencing events relating to Language Arts and Social Studies. For language arts the students are creating a 'monster' which another participate class somewhere in Alberta will have to create and share with our class via video conferencing. In Social Studies, the class will be presenting their region, 'grasslands' to other grade 4 classes in Alberta relating to the regions of Alberta. The language arts conference will be a one time event, where as the social studies conference will occur a multiple of times over the next month or so. If you have any questions or concerns about your child using video conferencing, feel free to contact me. Thanks!

P.E and Health
We have just finished our wiffle ball unit in P.E. The students seemed to really enjoy the unit and they are excited to start our next unit, volleyball!
We have been learning about body image in health and how we are all made differently. We have been studying media and how the media portrays body image. The students might have questions about body image and so I wanted to let you know beforehand. Have a great week!

We have started our unit on 'Sense of Land' and students have their first homework assignment where they are to draw or write in pictures and descriptions of Alberta's unique land features (mountains, hills, rivers, praries). Information can be found and used from the textbook on pages 18-23. Next week on Tuesday, the students will be given a presentation from Waterton Lakes National Park by Waneeta Fisher and it will be on 'National Parks in Alberta.' It is a free service and an interesting learning experience for the students.

October 15- L.A.- Camp Read Well
Hi Parents:
Your child will be bringing home a letter describing the "Camp Read Well" program that we will be completing in our class. The letter is coming home later than it should be but we will be starting the program permentantly in the month of November. The goal is for each student to read two books a month at his/her reading level. Once the goal is achieved, the student earns a free kids meal at 'Montana's.' I am excited to be implementing this fun program into the grade 4 L.A. class, and I hope you also enjoy it with your child as well.
