Tomorrow in Science we will be watching a Mythbusters episode, where they investigate the myth of Archimedes defeating an invading navy using mirrors, as a fun wrap-up to the Light and Shadows unit. Students are welcome to bring a small snack and drink to enjoy while watching the show. (Science is just before lunch tomorrow).
It has been a pleasure to work with all of your children, and I have certainly learned a lot during my time at St. Joseph School. Thank you for your support, and I wish all of you the very best!

We had our last visit with Liam, our Roots Baby today. We had a great celebration and we really enjoyed his company. We will defintely miss him. Those who have not paid $1 for the scrapbook gift, can still pay it next week when we have our last visit with Mrs. Doerksen.
A few students have not tuned in their Jump Rope for Heart forms yet. Please return them to the school by Friday, which is when we will be participating in Jump Rope for Heart.
In Language Arts today, we did not have time to go the library, so we will do it tomorrow before we read to the Pre-K class.
Spelling, Unit 27, is due on Friday as well as the usual spelling quiz.
In Thursday's Social class, we will spend time finishing the unit test that we started on Tuesday.

As I'm watching the fluffy snowflakes come down, I don't think soccer or baseball will be happening this weekend. Hopefully we will stay dry and warm for the most part.

Have a good weekend.

Science - next Wednesday's unit test will be on the Light and Shadows unit. Information in this unit includes: eye protection from bright light; sources of light; transparent, translucent and opaque; shadows and how shadows move during the day; reflection of light; refraction of light; light can be broken into colours, and colours can be recombined to form new colours; and optical devices. Students have completed assignments and activities on each of these (except optical devices, which we will be finishing on Monday). Tuesday will include class time for a review, but students are also expected to prepare at home for this quiz.
Several students are missing different assignments - they should know who they are. This work is due by TUESDAY, APRIL 24 AT THE VERY LATEST! After Tuesday, I won't mark any more late assignments.
The Rainbow Magic task is due Monday.

We have almost finished our first week back from Easter holidays. The Grade 4 students went with their Pre-K reading buddies to a service at St. Ambrose this morning. They were so well behaved and respectful - I was very proud of them.
Some of us are still adjustng to the school schedule, but I'm sure it will become routine again fairly quickly.
For Language Arts homework: 1) finish Unit 27 Spelling questions for Friday, April 20. We will also have a spelling quiz on the words on Friday. 2) Finish the rough copy of their penpal letters for Friday, April 20. ( our penpals are from St. Patrick's School, Taber.)
'Heads up' notes for next week: 1) We will be having our last visit with Liam, our Roots of Empathy baby,on Wednesday, April 25. Some of the students still need to give their $1 for the gift which is a book and a beautifully decorated photoalbum made by the instructor, Mrs. Doerksen. 2) We will be having a social studies test on Alberta's Natural resources on Tuesday, April 24. A study sheet will be given out on Friday and Monday's class will be a review class. 3) Jump Rope for Heart is happening on Friday, April 27 beginning at 12:30. The collection envelopes and money should be returned on Wed. April 25. Those not collecting money must still return their envelope as all envelopes must be accounted for.

March may have left like a lamb, but I don't think the April SNOWS are to bring May flowers. Anyhow, we will survive this too.
Language homework - Due to the short week, we will be having our Unit 26 spelling quiz on Thursday. This is also when the spelling unit work is due.
Social Studies - The students are to complete a little survey on how we use our forests in Alberta. They are then to write a brief summary on their findings (some speculation is allowed as to 'why' the results are the way they are). This is due for Thursday's class.
St. Joe's students will have a Holy Thursday Celebration in the gym at 10:30 on Thursday morning. Everyone is invited to attend.
